War Horse Ticket Prices
Modern classic play War Horse gallops back to the National Theatre for a limited season this summer, and it’s a must-see. With ticket prices starting at £36 and costing up to £140, there are options for a variety of budgets. Below, we suggest some of the best ways to get cheap tickets for War Horse.
War Horse Discount Tickets
Discounts aren’t always available for this show, but we recommend checking out big promotions such as London Theatre Week, which runs twice a year. You can often get tickets from £15 or £25 for really good seats. When the show opens, there may also be further offers for War Horse.
If you can’t find a discount, comparing different seating options is the best tactic. For example, a show like this, that uses incredible puppetry, can be great from further away because you get the full effect. Alternatively, you might want to be up close to feel immersed in how it all works. Websites like SeatPlan and Theatremonkey are great for finding seating tips and tricks and SeatPlan even has view from seat photos that have been submitted by real audiences.
When To Book Tickets
There is still good availability for the show but it’s expected to be very popular, so we recommend booking a month or so in advance. Weekends are likely to sell quickly, and keep in mind that some of the performance dates are during the summer holidays, when demand is higher.
When we checked, weekend performances were up to 8% more expensive than weekday performances, so if you can, try to see the show on Monday-Thursday. Weekend matinees and evenings are the same price.
Last-minute schemes have not been confirmed, but there may be Rush tickets released when the show has opened.
Top Tips For Your Visit
The National Theatre is located on the busy South Bank, not too far from free attractions including Tate Modern and the Southbank Centre. It’s very well connected by nearby tube stations and buses, and directly across the river is The Strand.
The theatre itself is a large building that is free to enter. There are seating areas, a cafe with good value lunch options, exhibitions, and a shop to browse for playtexts and souvenirs. Food from outside is usually not permitted, but on sunny days you can sit by the river and enjoy a packed lunch.
There is a cloakroom at the venue that opens 60 minutes before performances begin. The theatre cannot accept large bags or bikes, including folding bikes.
